Kathy Manilla Joins WBEZ 91.5FM Chicago as Vice President of Integrated Media Sponsorships
CHICAGO (April 20, 2018) – WBEZ 91.5FM, Chicago’s NPR news station, welcomes media industry veteran Kathy Manilla as its new vice president of integrated media sponsorships. Manilla brings more than 30 years of experience in media sales and will lead WBEZ’s corporate sponsorship and underwriting efforts.
“We are delighted that Kathy is joining our growing team. Her deep background and leadership experience will help us grow support from corporate sponsors and underwriters that allows us to invest in our local journalism and advance our mission of serving the community with fact-based quality news and programming,” said Goli Sheikholeslami, CEO of WBEZ.
Manilla will provide hands-on leadership to the team responsible for marketing corporate sponsorship programs across the station’s radio, digital and events platforms.
“I was attracted to this role because of WBEZ’s mission to fundamentally make a difference in the community with compelling and unique content across platforms,” said Manilla. “WBEZ attracts a large and engaged audience on air, online and at events, and I am excited and honored to be able to help connect these audiences with sponsors and brands.”
Having spent 25 years at the Chicago Tribune, Manilla brings a depth of experience working with journalistically driven media companies. As the first director of advertising for the Tribune Media Group, Manilla was responsible for leading multiple sales teams to create corporate media programs across newspaper, digital, TV, radio, events and outdoor media. When the Tribune split into two separately traded media companies, she remained with the newspaper company in an executive role as the vice president of business development.
After leaving the Chicago Tribune in 2015, Manilla started her own company advising start-ups and digital companies on revenue strategy and plans. Manilla started in her new role at WBEZ on April 12.
