CHICAGO (April 25, 2018) – WBEZ 91.5FM, Chicago’s NPR news station, has been recognized by the Radio Television Digital News Association with four Regional Edward R. Murrow Awards, among the most prestigious awards in broadcast and digital news that recognize outstanding achievements in journalism.
Regional Murrow Awards are presented to small and large radio, television and digital outlets based on 14 geographic regions. WBEZ was recognized in the Region 7 (Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Ohio) Large Market Radio category and will advance to the National Murrow Award competition this June.
The award-winning projects by WBEZ include:
- Every Other Hour, WBEZ’s series on Chicago’s gun violence epidemic, for the Continuing Coverage category
- Curious City: Chicago’s Nazi Neighborhood, for the Excellence in Innovation category
- Every Other Hour: Can you help me?, for the Writing category
- For Illinois Sex Offenders, Six Years Can Turn Into Life in Prison, for the Hard News category
