Lakeidra Chavis is WBEZ’s Afternoon News Producer. Before moving to the big city, she worked as a reporter for KTOO Public Media in Juneau, Alaska. She also did a stint as a bush reporter at KYUK Public Media, covering Alaska Native communities in the state’s southwestern region. Her work ranges from investigations into how the opioid crisis has impacted Black communities in Chicago, to financial mismanagement at regional corporations in Alaska.
Lakeidra has a B.A. in Psychology from the University of Alaska, Fairbanks.
