Shelly works behind the scenes to ensure our scheduled programming is on the air, and our transmission equipment is operating properly. She also operates the board during our live shows and assists with audio operations and troubleshooting in our studio complex.
Chicago-area native Shelly Steffens graduated with a degree in radio and television broadcasting from Marquette University. Since her college days, she's honed audio skills at commercial studios: Bosco Productions and Harpo Studios. Shelly has recorded music for film and music projects at Chicago's Experimental Sound Studios and has done recordings for bands such as Lichens, Shedd Aquarium, and for local dance company The Space Movement Project.
Shelly has toured as a front of house mixing engineer for artists such as Neko Case, Robin Pecknold, Joanna Newsom, Devendra Banhart, She and Him, Ok Go, Roy Harper and M. Ward. Additionally, over the years Shelly has worked as a mastering engineer at Chicago Mastering Service and has worked with the folks at Third Coast Festival as technical director.
