Silvia Rivera

As the Managing Director of Vocalo, Silvia is responsible for all broadcast and online operations.

Silvia Rivera has established herself as an authoritative voice on issues of leadership and diversity in public media. She is the product of youth-media training, having started her career in 1998 at Radio Arte (WRTE-FM), a youth-driven Latino public radio station. She would eventually rise through the ranks as a host/music & public affairs producer, Community Relations Director, Assistant GM of Marketing & Development, and ultimately General Manager (2006-2009).

Silvia Rivera received the Founder's Award in 2007 by the Chicago Foundation for Women (CFW), recognizing her as an emerging leader & advocate for young women working in the media. She is a founding member and Board President of the Latino Public Radio Consortium, an organization that advocates for Latino participation in the entire public media system.

Silvia serves on the board of the National Federation of Community Broadcasters, the Community Renewal Society, and the Latina Leadership Council.
