Wendy Turner

Vice President, Systems

As Vice President of Systems, Wendy leads the technology and infrastructure teams at Chicago Public Media, including Facilities, IT, Engineering, Web and Mobile development and Digital content creation.  The Systems group was consolidated in November 2009 to provide more robust, reliable and accessible services for content delivery to the audience, to develop and model new ways of creating multi-purpose content and support the work of the staff through technology services and enhancements.

In 2008 Wendy was named a “Woman To Watch” by Crain’s Chicago Business and in 2009 she received a Power Up award from Street Level Youth Media.

Wendy joined the staff of Chicago Public Media in February 2000 as assistant membership manager, later becoming pledge drive manager, director of on-air and online fundraising, director of membership and General Manager of Vocalo.org.  

She started her public media career at Minnesota Public Radio in 1994 as a telemarketing associate, later becoming a member/listener service associate and associate producer of on-air fundraising.

When she was twenty, Wendy founded Children’s Castle Theater in Farmington, MN, a community children’s theater casting local youth in original adaptations of classic fairytales.  

Wendy has a B.A. in Theater from St. Olaf College in Northfield, Minnesota, and resides in the Woodlawn neighborhood of Chicago with her husband, David Pearson.
